Moonah Trees#2
A rare indigenous species -
the Moonah Tree (Melaleuca)
is hard to find, however there is an amazing growth of Moonah Trees lining
a short dirt track in Indented Head
on the Bellarine Peninsula.
They create a dark tunnel-like canopy
with the occasional burst
of sunlight filtering through.
I was inspired by the spooky, twisted
and tangled creepy branches which reminded me of the Disney animated classic 'The Legend of Sleepy Hollow' where the headless horseman
famously pursues Icabod Crane.
Oil on Canvas.
